So-called “superfoods” have risen in popularity over the past decade or so, with consumers always on the lookout to get more bang for their buck in terms of ultra-healthy foods. Generally speaking, for something to qualify as a superfood, it must be dense with nutrients and provide you with a host of health benefits—one of the most popular superfoods that you’ve almost certainly heard of is kale, which quickly became the go-to for health nuts everywhere. Moringa is rich in antioxidants and anti-inflammatory elements. It’s high in carotenoid phytonutrients, which translated to English means that it’s like eating carrots and tomatoes, except “on steroids.” Research has also indicated that moringa can help to balance out the hormonal levels in your body, making it a particularly popular choice to ease physical stress in menopausal women, but can have beneficial results for anyone.

Thanks to its anti-inflammatory properties, moringa can help to ease general digestion and promote the overall health of your digestive system. The Ayurvedic medicinal approach uses it as a means to prevent or soothe stomach ulcers, general stomach pains, and even liver disease, since moringa can reduce the number of metal toxins in the body. Those with diabetes have found benefit in moringa as well, as it contains chlorogenic acid, an element which can help control the blood sugar levels in the body.
