September Wine Pick Of The Month
On two occasions over the weekend, our culinary team lead by Chef René-I-Wanna-Be-A- Fireman Kramer, set off overly sensitive fire alarms at two famous venues. His face was as red as the fire engine, but that’s what finishing off a couple hundred Créme Brulées will do.
Now to put out that flame, our wine picks of the month.
D’ARENBERG THE HERMIT CRAB, VIOGNIER/MARSANNE, 2013
Just like a hermit crab, this one can come out and bite you with an awesome flavour profile so complex, it almost defies description.
Marzipan, flowers, hazelnut, citrus, herbs, freshly cut grass – it all bounces around the palate.
Well done, Chester (the winemaker), move over Dyonysus.
VINTAGES #662775 – $19.95
TESSELLAE, COTES DU ROUSSILLON OLD VINES, GRENACHE/SYRAH/MOURVEDRE 2013
The Côtes du Roussillon is a minor appellation of France where they try harder and truly believe in the value of terroir.
This wine is very seductive, warm, sensual, full of fruits with just enough acidity to express the fruit, velvet tannins, a southern Rhone style blend of Grenache Syrah and Morverdre produced in a region where they try harder.
This is a winner!
VINTAGES #343517 – $17.00
