Some Things You Really Need To Know About Planning A Wedding

Unless you are very artistic, creative, experienced and have lots of time on your hands, why would you think you could be someone like Martha Stewart? Your wedding is not the time to experiment with table center pieces, and other wedding displays for your reception.

DO IT YOURSELF WEDDING DECORATION

Unless you are very artistic, creative, experienced and have lots of time on your hands, why would you think you could be someone like Martha Stewart? Your wedding is not the time to experiment with table center pieces, and other wedding displays for your reception.

YOU CAN’T INVITE EVERYONE!

Unless your family have tons of money, you cannot go over the agreed amount of guests you have budgeted for. If you have someone who has hinted they will fly from the other side of the world to be at your wedding, then yes you should invite them. People will understand if you tell them you are on a tight budget.

YOU ARE NOT SUPERWOMAN

Do you think you can organize every single aspect of your wedding like a film production? The answer is probably no. If someone you trust offers to help, then let them take over a specific task, as long as they are competent in doing the task and following your instructions.

DO I REALLY NEED BRIDESMAIDS?

Can you imagine getting ready on the day of your wedding without any help? Even one bridesmaid is not enough help. She may be thinking of just getting herself ready, instead of helping you into your dress and keeping you focused.

WRITE THE THANK YOU NOTES BEFORE THE WEDDING

Don’t wait until after the wedding to write thank you notes for all the gifts you received. As the gifts arrive, write the notes. You don’t want to come back from your wonderful honeymoon, knowing that you have to spend the next month writing them out when you get home from work.

IT’S YOUR DAY, YOUR WAY

Don’t be afraid to tell people if it is adults only or no cellphones at the ceremony. Nothing is worse than badly behaved kids running around annoying all the guests. Who wants to risk saying their vows to the sound of a ring tone? If the floral arrangements are the wrong colour or not what you discussed, it’s your money tell them it’s wrong and get them to change it.

WHY NOT BE A TECH SAVVY?

There are many ways to cut down on paper and clutter for your wedding and be super organized. You could create a cloud with all your details, ideas, photos etc. and share with the people that are helping or organising your wedding. Another way is to use Google Docs, where you can edit documents online and store them online for easy access on any computer. You can create a spreadsheet to keep track of all your expenses. There are even free apps you can download for your phone, tablet or iPad to make life easier.
